Allied health professions account for 60% of the healthcare workforce, and include various disciplines. The AHEC program works to increase the visibility of these professions and pose solutions to issues affecting the supply and distribution of allied health personnel in the state.

Eastern AHEC works with the Allied Health Professionals in the region to enhance their professional skills, stay in touch with current trends and new technologies through continuing education and technical assistance. Continuing education programs vary in length from a few hours, to multi-day conferences and semester long courses.

The Eastern AHEC Program supports community-based student rotations, and provides library and information technology services to students and practitioners in the region.

Eastern AHEC is affiliated with East Carolina University Health Sciences Division and the UNC-CH Department of Medical Allied Health Sciences for faculty resources.
